Something Wicked This Way Comes (1983) Based on a Ray Bradbury book, this is dark for a Disney film.
killer klowns from outer space (1988) apparently this is tooted for a sequel. Im amazed how straight the deputy plays it in this film. Creepiest bit is when a weird clown is trying to lure a little girl outside.

Its been re made a few time but it never has the charm of this one. This captures America’s paranoia of the soviets.
Night of the Hunter (1955) Not strictly a horror, but I saw this film when I was younger and it scared me of preachers.
